To get right to it, Deadly Premonition 2 is an approximately 20-hour long experience, though completion times will certainly vary from player to player. Notably, the original Deadly Premonition took a similar amount of time to beat, and fans can thus look forward to receiving another prolonged dose of strangeness in this sequel.

That said, it remains to be seen if Deadly Premonition 2 is able to maintain its predecessor’s bizarre charm over the course of its 20-hour runtime. The reviews that are currently available are somewhat split on this matter, and indeed it seems that the game is shaping up to be just as divisive as the the first one. This is certainly what many fans of the series were hoping for, but it is important to mention that some reviews suggest that Deadly Premonition 2 suffers from even more performance issues than the original.
As such, players that are still on the fence about purchasing this new Switch exclusive may want to watch a few gameplay videos before they take the plunge. While those that enjoyed the original Deadly Premonition are clearly capable of stomaching some problems with performance, the sequel’s frame rate issues are definitely worth knowing about before getting into the game.
It is safe to say that Deadly Premonition 2 is one of the strangest games releasing in July 2020, and it may in fact be one of the oddest of the year. Its fairly substantial length means that players will really be able to get invested in its story and characters, and hopefully those elements will be able to shine through the concerns that have been previously noted.
Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise will be available on July 10, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
