When the original Dead Space game released in 2008, EA also released an Ultra Limited Edition version on Xbox 360 for $150. EA only produced 1,000 copies of the Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition, making it a highly sought-after collector’s item. Fast forward to 2021, and it seems that the Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition prices are now through the roof, with eBay sellers listing it for prices ranging from $8,500 to $12,900.

For those who don’t remember the Ultra Limited Edition of Dead Space, it included the base game, an art book, a lithograph, the Dead Space graphic novel, the Dead Space: Downfall animated movie, a postcard signed by Glen Schofield, an Ishimura crew patch, and a DVD with bonus content.

Sometimes eBay prices for classic games are ridiculously high for no good reason, but it makes sense for the Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition. Since only 1,000 copies of this were produced, it is a genuine collector’s item, and its value is likely only going to increase as the years go by. Whether or not anyone is actually winning to shell out the $8,500 to $12,900 to secure themselves a copy remains to be seen, however.

This isn’t the only game from its era that’s going for high prices. Some listings for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Wii remote bundle have it listed for a staggering $39,999.99. Now, it must be stressed that just because online sellers are listing products for these prices it doesn’t mean people are actually forking over the cash for them. It’s still a reflection of how older video game prices have increased dramatically over the years, however.

Luckily, those that want to play games like Skyward Sword or Dead Space can do so without breaking the bank. An HD version of Skyward Sword just released for the Switch, while Dead Space is in the EA Play vault and playable on Xbox Series X through the backward compatibility program.

Dead Space is out now for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
