As reported by VGC, GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb recently teased that EA would be revealing a new game at the EA Play event on July 22. Grubb believes the game is going to be from “an established IP” and “we’re going to see it…if we’re not dead first.” This line in particular has led to speculation that EA could very well be revealing a new Dead Space game of some description at the EA Play event, possible developed by Star Wars: Squadrons studio EA Motive.

It’s possible that fans are looking too much into this and EA has no plans for a Dead Space revival. But if EA is bringing back Dead Space, one has to wonder what form it will take. The most obvious route would be a Dead Space remaster or a collection of the original trilogy of games, enhanced for modern consoles in the same way that EA brought back the original Mass Effect games. Alternatively, maybe fans will get a full-blown Dead Space sequel announced at EA Play.

Again, it’s possible that Grubb is referring to something completely different and so fans should keep that in mind. A Dead Space remaster has been rumored before, but nothing substantial has come of it. Diehard fans of the franchise may want to keep their expectations in check, but should still tune in to the EA Play event on July 22 just in case the company does indeed unveil a new Dead Space project at the show.

A new Dead Space game would likely steal the show at EA Play, but there are other titles that fans can likely look forward to seeing at the event as well. EA Sports will almost certainly have its lineup of sports titles on display, plus there will likely be some news on Battlefield 2042 as well. So even if Dead Space is a no-show, the event may still be worth watching for fans of EA’s games.
