However, it seems that developer Dambuster Studios hasn’t given up on Dead Island 2 just yet. For a while, publisher Deep Silver had Dead Island 2 listed as being in “active development,” and while this didn’t give fans much hope about the game, it appears that they may get to see the work Dambuster has been putting into the title fairly soon. According to prominent video game leaker Tom Henderson, Dead Island 2 is gearing up for a full re-reveal later this year.

According to Henderson, plans around the re-reveal are fairly unclear, but it is likely to happen before the end of the year. Some are pointing to The Game Awards 2022 as the perfect time to unveil Dead Island 2. It is likely that the game has changed a lot compared to what fans were shown in 2014 as well, with Henderson reporting that the cast is completely new with five or six playable characters coming to Dead Island 2. Also, there will be a big focus on co-op gameplay, with several gameplay test sessions focusing on the feature.

It seems that Dead Island 2’s re-reveal will not follow the pattern of its first unveiling either, as it is also reported that the game is expected to launch by the beginning of the next financial year. Back in February of this year, a statement from Deep Silver’s parent company Embracer Group also stated that Dead Island 2 could launch as early as March 2023. While this seems rather optimistic in a time when so many games are facing delayed release dates, Dead Island 2 is reportedly in a decent state of development.

Fans will only know for sure whether Dead Island 2 is coming soon whenever Deep Silver decides to re-reveal the game. Some are hoping that should the unveiling of the new Dead Island 2 come soon enough that it can poke fun back at Goat Simulator 3, which parodied the initial trailer for the zombie game in June.

Dead Island 2 is reportedly in development.
