RELATED: Dead by Daylight: Conjuring Villains That Would Be Perfect as Killers

While the map is breathtakingly gorgeous, its sheer size leaves much to be explored - both for Survivors and the Killers. Depending on who’s using it, the Eyrie of Crows can become an abode for safety as Survivors complete their escape or the perfect place for the Killer to complete their feast. How exactly can players maximize their use of this new map?

6 Immerse In Essentially A Desert Cemetery

Players who like to “feel” the map they’re exploring might want to get a general sense of its overall theme to fully immerse themselves in the environment. Even without a map layout, understanding the theme of the Eyrie of Crows already gives a gist of what Killers and Survivors can expect.

In the lore, the Eyrie of Crows is the map within the Forsaken Boneyard, the place where Carmina Mora - now The Artist - and her friends perished. It has since then become a mausoleum and cemetery in the middle of the desert. As such, players can safely expect a multitude of objects such as graves and tombstones in the area.

5 Remember Two Rings And A Columbarium

Given the chaotic nature of Dead By Daylight maps, one can assume that even the Eyrie of Crows is too chaotic a map to have all its segments laid out. However, it’s at least important to remember that the map follows a basic layout of two areas encircling a central building. This will let deadly Killers and witty Survivors prevail in the match. In summary:

The Outer Ring: This is the outermost edge of the Eyrie of Crows. Much of its edges are walls and tall grass, blocking the way out. Its main distinguishing feature lies in its tall inner walls, which populate the map and separate it from the Inner Ring. The Inner Ring: This is the innermost “corridor” of the Eyrie of Crows, lying just inside the Outer Ring’s walls and ending just outside the Main Building. In this area, players can find quite a lot of graves and tombstones. The Columbarium: This is the central and most prominent structure within the Eyrie of Crows. The Columbarium is a tower of sorts, with an open interior composed of stairs and some hiding spots.

4 Quite An Abundance Of Objects

Any player could look at objects on any map as the thin divide between life and death, particularly in Dead By Daylight where chasing is a key mechanic. With the Eyrie of Crows, in particular, there seems to be quite an abundance of objects in the area.

Given its nature as a cemetery of sorts, there are quite a lot of graves, crypts, and tombstones that can become both a Survivor and a Killers’ saving grace. Here are some important considerations in terms of navigation:

Quick turns are essential: Unlike other maps, Eyrie of Crows has a lot of tall walls that don’t necessarily form structures. This makes it a good map for quick turns that can help Survivors lose their Killers or for Killers to catch Survivors by surprise. Open area emphasizes speed: Compared with other maps, Eyrie of Crows is more open, offering a lot more visibility due to low objects. This means Survivors can keep track of Killers easier while Killers can spot Survivors faster. With this in mind, players should look at their speed and never stay idle to avoid getting killed. Killers like the Nurse with movement-related abilities can thrive on this map. Vault with caution: While the abundance of low objects can motivate Survivors to vault more often, they need to remember the sheer speed cost this gets them. Considering the more open nature of the map, most objects that can be vaulted can be easily encircled with a few steps.

3 The Rings: Mind The Environment Objects

Given the abundance of items in the general map, it’s important to get a sense of what objects exist in the environment and what players can do with them. Players can capitalize on certain environmental objects depending on how they appear on the map. Killers with mobility abilities can disregard a lot of these obstacles with ease. Aside from lockers and pellets, here are some notable environmental objects in the Eyrie:

Incomplete L Walls: Intended to be structures that collapsed over time, the Outer Ring is filled with Incomplete L Walls and other kinds of walls with multiple corners but don’t form a structure. The open nature of these areas means they’re easy to access, particularly for peeking. Use these to make quick turns or make a quick hide from a Killer. Parallel Walls: Aside from Incomplete L Walls, the Outer Ring also has Parallel Walls instead. These are walls that line up with space in between, perfect for quick teasing when it comes to evading Killers. Quick turns and backtracking here can confuse Killers in no time. These are often found near crypts, alongside other ruined objects such as pillars.

Rocks and trees: Being a desert environment, the exterior part of the Eyrie is filled with huge rocks and trees as well. While trees are generally found solo instead of as a pack, rock formations are often tall and thin. These give players a lot of room to hide behind them for some quick healing while surveying the general environment. Crypts: Along the Inner Ring are crypts and small structures that serve as entrances to mausoleums. Albeit the size of a shed, they do offer significant turning points for Survivors to confuse Killers. Considering their vicinity to empty walls and rocks, players should note which hiding spots are closest to crypts for quick escapes. For Killers , this means understanding when to make quick turns to catch Survivors off-guard. Tombstones, graves: Lastly, littering the main Eyrie area are various tombstones and graves. They generally serve as environmental objects meant to motivate Survivors and Killers to make twists and turns during the chase. However, the right combination of graves and tombstones can ruin a Killer’s day. Basically, some tombstones and graves are situated well near each other that players can taunt the Killer into having an endless chase, given how multiple obstacles can give either party a heads up.

2 The Columbarium: Capitalize The Darkness

In stark contrast to the Eyrie’s exterior, entering the Columbarium will give players an extremely dark interior. Instead of a building with multiple sections, the Columbarium is a tower of sorts that is a couple of stories high, populated by stairs that lead to small platforms with shelves. Surrounding the Columbarium’s exterior is a terrace of sorts that circles around the Columbarium and overlooks the rest of the Eyrie below. Here are some crucial points:

Use the darkness: Given the dark nature of the Columbarium, players can actually use the darkness to their advantage. Since there are a lot of windows and doorways in the general vicinity, they can still see the silhouette of most objects in the Columbarium. In a chase, players should trust their instincts and use the darkness to evade the Killers. Unless they’re in a Killer’s Stain, in which they’re vulnerable to their special attacks . Use the bookshelves: There’s an abundance of bookshelves in the area, particularly near the stairs. Players can topple these down to give them some time to run ahead of the Killers whenever necessary. Mind the tight corridors: Several walls criss-cross the Columbarium, making for some tight walls on the ground floor and some tight corridors on the higher floors. While these corridors are as wide as the player, they don’t have fences so a wrong move can send players down. Nimble players can use this to make quick escapes or lure Killers into falling. Likewise, Killers can bait Survivors into falling off these locations. Survey the Eyrie via the terraces: Around the Columbarium’s second floor is a terrace that surrounds the tower, giving players a view of what’s happening below. Survivors can use this to peek and see what their other teammates are doing, and Killers can use this to get a quick survey of the area.

1 Wear Bland Browns For Disguise

While skins have become more or less a novelty in the game, some players might want to get their wits above them and consider how their clothes can adapt to a bright map like Eyrie of Crows.

At its core, considering the map’s emphasis on desert colors, it may help for players to use Survivors with skins that include desert browns, camouflage, or bland colors. That way, they have better chances of blending with objects from afar and even evading the Killer’s gaze if the latter seems preoccupied with the hunt.
