The Resident Evil: Project W chapter is now available for Dead by Daylight players on PC and consoles for $11.99 USD, discounted to $10.79 USD for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Along with the paid Resident Evil-themed content with the new chapter are many improvements to the base game thanks to the 6.2.0 update. New streamer options for PC are aimed at reducing harassment and targeting of streamers, including an Anonymous Mode which replaces the account name with the selected character name, the ability to hide one’s name and the names of other players from appearing on-screen, and a short, random delay to the matchmaking queue to prevent targeted in-game harassment.

The main attraction, of course, is the Resident Evil: Project W chapter. Players who purchase the chapter gain access to several iconic characters from the Resident Evil franchise with new perks and unique playstyles. One of the new survivors is Ada Wong, a recurring character seen in Resident Evil 2, 4, and 6. Ada Wong is a resourceful spy, whose perks reflect her espionage skills. Wiretap reveals the Killer when it’s near generators she has repaired, while Low Profile hides her pools of blood to prevent tracking. Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero players will recognize Rebecca Chambers, a biochemistry expert whose medical knowledge is reflected in the Better Than New perk which gives healed survivors a speed boost, and Reassurance which assists players who are caught in a struggle.
Resident Evil: Project W also brings Albert Wesker, also known as The Mastermind, into the game as the latest playable killer. Wesker is a major recurring character throughout the Resident Evil franchise and is easily one of the most recognizable villains from the series. Wesker is infected with a prototype virus that gives him superhuman strength and enhanced senses, with in-game perks to match. Superior Anatomy boosts Wesker’s vault speed whenever nearby survivors perform a vault, while Awakened Awareness shows Wesker the auras of nearby survivors while he is carrying one. The Terminus perk inflicts any currently injured survivors with the Broken status once exit gates are powered.
The 6.2.0 update also includes an improvement to player ping indicators, color-coded so that yellow bars indicate ping over 100ms and red bars indicate ping over 200ms. Packet loss is also displayed, with yellow indicating 2-5% packet loss and red indicating packet loss over 5%. Players will also be notified when another player is having connection issues. A long list of minor bug fixes shows that developer Behaviour Interactive is intent on further polishing the base game alongside adding new content.
Dead by Daylight is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
