In a recent interview with Game Rant, Behaviour Interactive’s Head of Partnerships, Mathieu Cote, commented on what kind of features Dead by Daylight will be taking advantage of on next-gen consoles. While many of the Next-Gen’s most prominent selling points won’t be arriving at launch, it does seem like Behaviour is eyeing some DualSense features in the future.

The specific feature in question is the DualSense’s haptic feedback, which is intended to add an extra level of immersion to any games played on PS5 consoles over the competition. According to Cote, this feature is something that Behaviour has had in mind for implementing into Dead by Daylight, but balancing crossplay makes bringing the new rumble a difficult task. Since haptic feedback is only available on PS5, it means that there wouldn’t be a proper way to replicate the same effect on any other platforms, next-gen or otherwise.

While balance is an issue to watch out for, with Dead by Daylight’s next-gen release including crossplay at launch, Behaviour does still seem to have ideas for how to implement haptic feedback in the future, though it may be a wait. Players likely shouldn’t be expecting haptic feedback to have the kind of hyper-realistic immersion planned for PS5 exclusive titles like Godfall, instead working in tandem with the terror of Dead by Daylight in more subtle ways.

Exactly when the haptic feedback feature will be coming to Dead by Daylight’s PS5 version is still fairly up in the air and may take some time for Behaviour to consider how it could affect the balance on the system. After all, giving players a better idea of where Dead by Daylight’s antagonizing killers might be coming from or which direction survivors have run off to could mean that the new console has a clear advantage over others. Regardless, Behaviour does still seem to be interested in haptic feedback, and the feature will likely come to the game sooner or later.
