Dead by Daylight fans may be drawn back to the multiplayer survival horror game by its Hour of the Witch DLC. Dead by Daylight has been no stranger to DLC since its 2016 release, with Hellraiser’s Pinhead being just the latest in a long line of DLC characters added to the title. Hour of the Witch will be the 24th DLC addition to Dead by Daylight and will introduce an all-new character to the game. Dead by Daylight’s Hour of the Witch may not be adding a big name from the horror-sphere, but it could prove to be enough to suck some dedicated fans back into the game.

What is Dead by Daylight: Hour of the Witch?
Dead by Daylight has become known for its crossovers with other big names in the horror space. Dead by Daylight has 23 DLC packs to this point, introducing new killers, survivors, and maps to keep the game feeling fresh. The new DLC that is set to be released very soon which will not be adding any new killers, but it will add a new playable survivor for fans to try out. Hour of the Witch is a half chapter that makes up chapter 21.5 for Dead by Daylight. The content update releases today, September 30, marking the beginning of spooky season.
The all-new survivor in Dead by Daylight’s Hour of the Witch is named Mikaela Reid, and she should be a fine addition to the Dead by Daylight character list. The last character introduced was Hellraiser’s Pinhead, who was a killer, so adding a new survivor makes sense to balance out the roster. In addition, it seems that Mikaela Reid is likely a support class, as a tweet from the official Dead by Daylight Twitter account reads “She brings light and life to a realm of darkness and death”. Mikaela is the titular witch, and her perks all have a witchy ring to them. They include Clairvoyance, Boon: Circle of Healing, and Boon: Shadow Step, which will all add major boosts to players’ hopes of survival.
A Great Game to Play at Halloween
Dead by Daylight’s Hour of the Witch is launching right on time for Halloween, and will provide a boost for the game as it approaches a big time of the year in terms of active players. Mikaela Reid is an original Dead by Daylight character unlike Hellraiser’s Pinhead, but she has a lengthy backstory explaining her time as a barista, her father’s premature passing, and her dive into the world of witchcraft.
While Mikaela is a survivor, her backstory doesn’t make for overly light reading and is a good entry point for those who want to get in the right mood for October. Dead by Daylight in general is a great way to get into the Halloween spirit, too, as its multiplayer survival horror gameplay is capable of causing its fair share of hair-raising moments.
Dead By Daylight is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, mobile devices, and Stadia.
