Since Dead by Daylight’s launch in June 2016, Behaviour Interactive has continued to pursue collaboration content for its asymmetric horror game. The original game launched with just three killers, all of which were original releases. But it would be just months later when Michael Myers of Halloween would join as part of Dead by Daylight’s major Chapter DLC release, allowing the horror film villain to stand apart. In the years since, Behaviour would continue to use this style of Chapter DLC to make each Killer’s release a spectacle full of lore and fun beyond just a new character.

Speaking with Dexerto, Behaviour head of partnerships Mathieu Cote says to expect Dead by Daylight to continue this trend into the future. He acknowledges that while “the shortlist is getting shorter,” the “range of options is wider than it’s ever been.” Which is to say that while horror options are becoming more limited, Dead by Daylight is finding new opportunities. Examples like Evil Dead’s Ash Williams, which Cote refers to as “comedy,” and the Attack on Titan anime collaboration are what he has in mind.
What those future collaborations may be will have to remain a mystery, however. Cote isn’t giving away any of Dead by Daylight’s secrets. What he is willing to say, though, is that players are going to be “surprised” by what the company has planned.
While Cote is hinting at some surprising additions, that doesn’t mean that Dead by Daylight won’t continue its past efforts, too. Asked if Dead by Daylight will continue to have collaborations with other video games, Cote says “certainly.” He believes there are “a lot of really cool” gaming characters he thinks are perfect for Dead by Daylight.
Dead by Daylight players still have a long list of Killers and crossover horror franchises they want to see in-game. Alien’s Xenomorph is a constant request, as is Pennywise of It. A Five Nights at Freddy’s partnership is also popular, especially with a movie in the works. Whether those are possible or not, only Behavior knows. It will be fun to find out what’s next, though.
Dead by Daylight is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
